The Surrounding Area
Yeovil was traditionally a centre of the leatherworking industry, but, starting from small beginnings as Petters Limited to Westland and now Leonardo, it is a centre of aerospace excellence and the ‘Home of British Helicopters’.

Home of British Helicopters
Leonardo A149 offered for the UK New Medium Helicopter project.

Yeovil Country Park
The best pedestrian access is through Yeovil Country Park, reached by a light controlled pedestrian crossing across the A30 very close to the station.
A 10 to 15 minute remarkably rural, walk, reaches the town centre at the cinema and associated leisure and hospitality venues.

Town Centre
There is a broad range of retailers, cafes and entertainment venues clustered in a relatively compact area, much of it pedestrianised.
There is a range of shops in Middle Street, High Street, and Princes Street. The Quedam shopping centre runs downhill parallel to Middle Street.

St John the Evangelist
The Borough forms the traditional centre of the town. The adjacent Church of St John the Evangelist, built in the 14th Century and Grade 1 Listed, with a 92ft high tower is an imposing centrepiece for its pretty churchyard, which is a popular summer meeting place.

Montacute House
Just over four miles from Yeovil is the magnificent Jacobean Montacute House, a National Trust Property, built by Sir John Phelps, an important member of the court of James 1st. The house is surrounded by beautiful gardens, both formal and landscaped.
The number 81 bus runs regularly from Yeovil to Montacute.
